Peruthe United States and Chile participated in a rescue drill in the coastal district of Ancón, north of Lima, as part of the multinational exercise Unitas LXVII Peru 2026.
The event, held on September 16, brought together nearly 300 people from the naval forces of the three countries, as well as members of the National Institute of Civil Defense, Indeci, and of the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks of Lima Norte, that contemplate scenarios related to the possible effects of the phenomenon of The Child.
During the training, different emergency situations were recreated, including the collapse of structures, the rescue of trapped people and the transfer of those affected by crossing a river with ropes. Boats and a helicopter were used for the maneuvers.
Exercise is part of Uniteswhich this year brings together 5,700 participants from 24 countries, along with 26 ships, two submarines and 21 aircraft. The activities also include operations riverterrestrial and amphibious in Iquitos.
