Paseo con Sombrero Buenos Aires 2025: what the skin care awareness event will be like

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the City of Buenos Aires will be the scene of 10th Walk with a Hata free activity that promotes creativity, coexistence and, mainly, dermatological well-being. This edition will begin at 5 p.m. at the National Museum of Fine Arts (Avenida del Libertador 1473), where neighbors and visitors can participate with a single requirement: attend with their head covered by a hat, beret, galley, cap, capeline, fascinator or turban.

The event celebrates a decade reinforcing its main motto, “let’s take care of the skin”, a slogan that associates this accessory with protection against the harmful effects of the sun.

The proposal, headed by Marcos ShayoArgentine inventor and visual artist, has the collaboration of the hat designer Laura Noetinger. The geneticist and rescue doctor Alejandra Ciappa acts as godmother and reference in health matters. The meeting is part of an international network that, in 2025, brings together cities committed to raising awareness about sun exposure, from Montevideo to Santiago de Chile.

“All dermatology associations recommend the use of a hat, because it protects us from ultraviolet rays. To avoid injuries to the skin of the face and neck, we must recover the habit of wearing a hat,” he said. Shayo in dialogue with Infobae.

The organizers highlight the open and festive nature of the day, the focus of which is citizen participation without age or gender restrictions. Each person freely chooses how to wear their hat, beret or turban, with total freedom to add their personal imprint.

The walk highlights the close relationship between skin cancer prevention and the regular use of hats in everyday life. The celebration is inspired by Passejada amb Barret of Barcelonaan initiative generated in 2005 by the hatmakers Christina of Prada and Nina Pawlowsky.

Since then, the tradition spread internationally with the incorporation of other cities, and Buenos Aires adapted it, prioritizing the message of dermatological health. “The spirit of the walk is to stimulate and spread awareness of skin protection. Especially doing it in the context of a nice walk,” he highlighted. Shayo to Infobae when explaining the origin and evolution of the event.

The itinerary of Walk with Hat It passes through historical monuments and emblematic sites, inviting participants to discover the cultural heritage of the City of Buenos Aires while talking with experts and design fans. The event grew in popularity and adhesion, and encourages the organization of spontaneous walks in different towns and cities, even beyond the Argentine capital.

One of the central objectives is to make visible the prevention of diseases linked to sun exposure, especially skin cancer. The presence of health professionals and renowned designers guarantees rigorous and up-to-date information. “The use of a hat is essential to protect the skin of the face and neck,” reaffirms the motto of the current edition, whose slogan has been replicated in multiple countries in the southern hemisphere.

This year, the World Hat Walk phenomenon marked its second international edition with the participation of more than 60 cities, including Buenos Aires. After that global event that took place in April, the Argentine capital is preparing for its local event, the 10th Walk with a Hatwhich year after year reinforces a current of awareness, fashion and urban identity.

During the day, those who participate will be able to exchange their experiences, explore the history and symbols of urban spaces and integrate health and fashion into daily life. For the organizers, the value of the event lies in the possibility of building a diverse community with a common goal: protect the skin from sun damage through a festive and collective event.
