“The Specialized Court 5 of Bogotá, administering justice in the name of the Republic, resolves: to sentence Carlos Eduardo Mora by pre-agreement to the main penalties of 21 years in prison and a fine of 9,525 legal minimum wages for 2025 for the crimes of aggravated homicide, aggravated illegal possession of weapons and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime,” said the judge, who left the sentence firm because no one appealed it..
The sentence was handed down by the 5th Criminal Court of the Bogotá Circuit, after having accepted a pre-agreement with the Attorney General’s Office.in which Mora González admitted his participation in the planning and execution of the attack. The prosecution relied on evidence such as security camera records and a traffic summons, which were decisive in the identification and capture of the convicted person.
Previous judicial records already appeared in the file of Mora González, who had been captured in February 2024 in Florencia, Caquetá, carrying 11 5.56 caliber rifle cartridges. On this occasion, he was found guilty of homicide, conspiracy and manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition, all in an aggravated capacity.
Katherine Andrea Martínez Martínez, alias Gabirela, another of those involved in the crime against Miguel Uribe Turbay, was also sentenced to 21 years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office accused Elder José Arteaga Hernández, known as alias Chipi or el Costeño, for his alleged participation in the attack against Miguel Uribe Turbay.
According to the investigations, the accusation maintains that Arteaga Hernández would have organized the criminal plan, assigned roles to each of those involved and coordinated several planning meetings, specifically on June 4, 2025 and on subsequent dates, held in Bosa and other sectors of the city.
In addition, he is credited with having carried out surveillance activities on the victim and prior recognition of the site where the attack was perpetrated, specifically in El Golfito park, during a political event of the Democratic Center.
Among the evidence against him, the prosecution points out that Arteaga Hernández had delivered the firearm to the minor identified as alias Tianz, who was in charge of shooting Uribe Turbay and directly supervised the development of the attack.
The presidential candidate Uribe Turbay was injured by three bullet wounds; at least one of them was lodged in his head. He remained for two months in the Intensive Care Unit of the Santa Fe Foundation, in the north of Bogotá, until he died on August 11, 2025.
Due to these facts, Arteaga Hernández will face an oral trial for aggravated homicide, aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, aggravated manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, use of minors to commit crimes and concealment, alteration or destruction of material evidence.
