Former magistrates and constitutionalists launched an alert about the nationality of the extreme right candidate
Colombia held the presidential elections on May 31, 2026, but no candidate obtained more than half of the votes cast. For this reason, the country is heading for a second round, scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2026.
Abelardo de la Espriella, representative of conservative and right-wing forces, obtained the largest vote in the first round. His rival will be Iván Cepeda, who proposes maintaining the current course of Gustavo Petro’s government and will face each other at the polls. Both continue to tour the country in search of support, while the political environment remains tense and divided between the main social sectors.
