DHS promotes ‘self-deportation’ with images from Colombia on its X account

A publication on X’s account US Department of Homeland Security is showing illustrated images, apparently by artificial intelligence, of tourist sites in India, Colombia and China to encourage undocumented migrants to voluntarily deport to receive a free flight back to your country and monetary compensation of up to US$2,600.

The DHS website explains that migrants can use the CBP Home app and use the ‘Declaration of Intent to Depart’ feature to “take control of your departure and receive financial support to return home.”

Previously during the Biden administration, The application had another name (CBP One) and was used to request political asylum in the United States and schedule appointments to report to Customs and Border Protection. However, After Trump’s inauguration, it was renamed CBP Home and served as a platform for migrants to request ‘self-deportation’ from the government.

This program is part of the Trump administration’s efforts to control the entry of irregular migrants into its country and end birthright citizenship, one of the flags that led him to have a second term in the White House.
