The El Reventador volcano maintains high activity this Sunday, according to the most recent report from the Geophysical Institute. This was reported by the newspaper El Comercio, which detailed the presence of incandescent material descending down its flanks, dozens of explosions recorded in a single day and a cloud of ash that disperses in different directions.
According to the newspaper, the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School reported that the El Reventador volcano maintains a high level of surface activity, without changes in its trend. Internally, activity remains at a moderate level, also unchanged. The report corresponds to the period between 11:00 on Saturday, September 19 and 11:00 on Sunday, September 20.
During that period, the reference station recorded 69 explosions, 31 long-period events, 19 emission tremors and 14 harmonic tremors. Through the surveillance camera system, several gas and ash emissions were observed, with heights between 300 and 800 meters above the crater level, directed towards the east, southwest, west and northwest.

During the night of Saturday and the early hours of this Sunday, surveillance cameras recorded the descent of incandescent material down the flanks of the volcano, which reached up to 1,100 meters below the level of the crater.
