Born on March 29, 2001, Erika Jimenez Gomez She was described by her acquaintances as a quiet and hard-working young woman. He had to enter the world of work at a young age to help his mother support the family, given the unfavorable economic conditions in which they lived.
His name and photograph occupied news spaces in some local media, as well as residents of the municipality of Palenque, in Chiapassince the afternoon of November 4, when the authorities recognized his disappearance.
According to the bulletin of the State Persons Search Commission of Chiapas, it was on October 31 when Erika’s relatives stopped having contact with her. That night, the young woman left her house in the Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta neighborhood to meet with her boyfriend, Luis Jovani Ramírez.
Allegedly, around 7:30 p.m., Erika informed her mother that she would travel with the boy to the La Cañada area, less than two kilometers away. After that, his mother knew no more. Unofficial versions indicate that some witnesses saw the couple arguing.
Seeing that her daughter did not return, Erika’s mother filed the corresponding complaint with the authorities. The next thing that was known about her was that her body had been buried in a home in the Aztec colonyin the western sector of Palenque.
Through a statement, the State Attorney General’s Office explained that the young woman’s remains were recovered after carrying out a search for exhumation purposes in a private home.
“The body of the victim was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) where the legal autopsy will be carried out, to determine the cause of death and obtain more evidence data obtained from the experts,” added the Prosecutor’s Office when reporting the beginning of an investigation file for femicide.
At the time of being murdered, Erika was seven months pregnant. Their baby was scheduled to be born in early 2025.
Through social networks, the Karla Velasco Foundation reported that authorities from the Selva District Prosecutor’s Office had harassed and threatened Erika’s familyin addition to the fact that the process of identification and delivery of the body would not have been carried out adequately.
Despite the little information there is about Erika, some users on social networks who claim to have met her regretted her femicide and expressed their indignation at the events.
“From a very young age they came to Palenque to work, to fight for life and it is not fair that they took their lives in that way,” wrote one woman. “I worked close to her a few years ago, she was a good girl, without vices and calm. The way he died makes me sad,” another user shared.
Unofficial versions point to her boyfriend, Luis Jovani Ramírez, as one of the possible suspects in the femicide, whose family would have ties to political figures such as Mayor of Palenque, Jorge Cabrera Aguilarand with Carlos Morelos Rodríguez, federal representative for the Labor Party (P.T.).
According to the National Registry of Detentions (RND), the young man was arrested early on November 6 by agents of the Ministerial Police in the Valle de Balham neighborhood, Palenque.
