Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Donald Trump on his recent victory in the US presidential election.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your election as president of the United States,Putin said Thursday at the Valdai Debate Club, held annually in the city of Sochi, on the shores of the Black Sea. “I have already said that we will work with any head of state that the American people trust,” he said.
Putin said he was willing to renew contact and hold talks with Trump, and that the incoming president’s proposals on Ukraine deserved attention.
