Venezuelan prosecutor Tarek Saab issues arrest warrant for Argentina’s president

Venezuela’s Attorney General Tarek Saab said that arrest warrants are being processed against the President of Argentina, Javier Milei; Secretary General of the Presidency of Argentina, Karina Milei; and Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich.

He also indicated that it was ordered “the assignment of two prosecutors specialized in the matter to carry out the arrest.”

Tarek pointed out that this is part of an investigation that was opened by the “theft” of the Venezuelan-Iranian plane that was held in Buenos Aires since June 2022 and was sent to the United States in February 2024.

According to Venezuelan regulations, this would incur the crimes of “aggravated robbery, money laundering, unlawful deprivation of liberty, simulation of a punishable act, unlawful interference, disabling of aircraft and criminal association.”

“This, in the next few hours, will have its consequences in a competent court here in Venezuela with the respective arrest warrants in the respective competent bodies.“because that cannot go unpunished,” Saab said in a broadcast on state channel VTV.

In this same month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already requested the International Criminal Court, ICC, to issue an arrest warrant against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
