The Venezuelan Government will give permission to Machado's advisors to travel to Argentina

The government of Venezuela will grant safe passage to Argentina to six advisors of opposition leader María Corina Machado under existing arrest warrants, according to an official with direct knowledge of the matter.

Machado's campaign director Magalli Meda, as well as his top advisers Pedro Urruchurtu, Claudia Macero and three others sought refuge in the Argentine embassy in Caracas last month after the Venezuelan Public Ministry ordered their arrest for their alleged participation in a plot to destabilize the government of Nicolás Maduro.

The Venezuelan government is waiting for confirmation from the Argentine government to coordinate his travel, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. Argentina's Foreign Ministry and Milei's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The arrest warrants against Machado's team come amid a crackdown on dissent ahead of July elections, in which the Maduro government has banned the winner of the opposition primaries from participating. The crackdown has added pressure on the Biden administrationwhich threatened to reimpose sanctions unless Maduro moved toward free and fair elections.
