The president of Uruguay travels to Panama and Honduras for the IX Celac Summit

According to a report published on the website of the Presidency of Uruguay, President Yamandú Orsi departed on April 6 to Panama and Honduras. Its agenda includes participation in the IX Summit of Heads of State of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), in addition to several meetings with leaders of the region.

In Panama, Orsi will meet with his counterpart, José Raúl Mulino, after being received by Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Facha. The official delegation is also made up of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Lubetkin, and a group of entrepreneurs from the rice sector, with the aim of promoting the attraction of investments from the Caribbean market.

Subsequently, in Honduras, President Orsi will hold an encounter with President Xiomara Castro and the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro. In this context, the Summit of Regional Leaders will be held, where Castro will transfer the presidency of CELAC to Petro, who will assume the ownership of the forum.

CELAC groups 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, aims to promote regional integration into economic aspectssocial and cultural.
