Good streak of film productions directed by Spanish directorswith good acceptance by the public. I mean The sparkles (Pilar Palomero), I’m Nevenka (Icíar Bollaín) or The red virgin (Paula Ortiz) and now the foray into the thriller genre of Arantxa Echevarríaafter his successful debut with Carmen and Lola in 2018 and his experience in television series, Chinas (2023) being his previous feature film.

Echevarría, now, surprises by composing an intrigue framed in the hard era of ETA terrorismbuilding a portrait of the woman fresh out of the police academy who was chosen to infiltrate the terrorist group, sacrificing her life and forever leaving her family and any future plans.

It is not the first time that cinema deals with the subject, through different perspectives, from that of Imanol Uribe in days counted (1994), Mikel’s death (1983) or Far from the sea (2015), to the most recent ones such as Maixabel (Bollaín, 2021) or the series Homelandbased on the novel by Fernando Aramburu. However, the most original thing about the story that concerns us today is that it is Inspired by facts and a real characterdespite being dramatized. In fact, one of the film’s strongest assets could be the magnificent performance of the leading actress, who plays this young police officer who had to pose as a would-be terrorist, struggling to repress her true emotions. I mean the immense work you do Carolina Yuste, very well accompanied by Luis Tosar in the role of head of the department completed by the characters of Victor Clavijo and Nausicaa Bonnin.

The risk to which this is subjected 20 year old young manwho was forced to share a home with two dangerous members of the terrorist gang (Iñigo Gastesi and Diego Anido, excellent in the construction of their characters), provides a sufficient dose of suspense enough to keep us interested from beginning to end of the plot: from the moment the operation to dismantle the Donosti commando is planned until it is completed.
