The 15 measures proposed by Pedro Sánchez to combat corruption in Spain

“The plan will mean the greatest impulse to the prevention, struggle and repair of corruption that has been made in recent decades in Spain and the objective is to place our country at the forefront of the continent,” Sánchez said, detailing the five axes that the plan entails.

The first axis is that of the “Risk prevention and strengthening controls against corruption” and includes six measures.

1. First, an independent public integrity agency will be launched, which will assume the key functions in preventionsupervision and persecution of corrupt practices. Will independently coordinate the fight against corruption.

2. In second terms, the Executive proposes an extension to the entire administration of The methodology applied to the award of the Next Generation funds to improve the audit and control of funds.

5. The fifth initiative is to promote the new Open Administration Law that reinforces the Active transparency obligation, establish early alert mechanisms and update the State Transparency Portal. 6. In sixth term, controls on political parties will be reinforced. 7. The second axis of the plan is to improve the protection of complainants of corruption cases and includes a central measure. The third axis, which seeks the reinforcement of the State’s ability to investigate, judge and punish corruption, consists of five other measures.

8. The eighth proposal of the lot is the creation of specialized sections in crimes against public administration within the new courts of instance, with specialized judges, which will help to expedite judicial processes and increase their effectiveness.
