The first case of monkeypox, or mpox lo, outside of Africa, with the more contagious variant, was reported by authorities on Thursday
According to reports from the Swedish Public Health Agency, the first case of a new contagious variant of mpox (or monkeypox) has been reported outside the African continent. The person became infected during a stay in an area of Africa where there is currently a major outbreak.
According to CNN, the news comes just hours after the The World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the outbreak of monkeypox in parts of Africa was already a public health emergency of international concern.At least 450 people died during an initial outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the disease has since spread to parts of central and eastern Africa.
