The Government of Spain announced some changes to facilitate the entry and stay of Colombians and other foreigners who want to work and study legally. As reported by the FM, the great novelty is the modification of the Foreigner Law, a change that will enter into force tomorrow, May 20.
Elma Saiz, Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations of Spain, said that the reform seeks the reform of the migratory system to adapt it to the novelties of the flow of foreigners and their objectives. The regulations will allow students to work up to 30 hours a week in jobs that are not related to the career.
They will also have a residence authorization for studies that are valid throughout the academic program. They can also file a work permit at the end of studies without the need to return to their country of origin.
“It is inconceivable that someone who comes to form ends in an irregular situation because of the system. This reform seeks to guarantee legal certainty and continuity for those who come to contribute to the country”Saiz said.
The reform seeks to correct some irregularities and restrictions that were imposed on students in vulnerability situations, which may fall into administrative failures due to bureaucratic processes.
