A violent head-on collision in the Nicolás Avellaneda bridge left this morning two men and a woman interned in serious condition in the Argerich Hospital.
The accident, which occurred under a wet road, generated a scene of total destruction in both vehicles. The collision occurred on the bridge section, at height of Suárez streetas reported by the City Police.
The first vehicle involved was a Chevrolet Astrainside which was an adult man with whom he was trapped alive inside the vehicle. He was released by the guard and placed on a rigid board for transfer to the Argerich Hospital, with a diagnosis of polytrauma.
On the second vehicle, mark Nissan Tiida modelthere was another adult man in unconscious state but with vital signs. He was transferred to the aforementioned hospital with multiple injuries. In said vehicle there was also an adult woman, also in an unconscious state. The Fire Guard carried out the last maneuvers in order to free her and she was also referred to Argerich, with multiple traumas.
The collision occurred in the section of the bridge that connects the southern area of the Buenos Aires suburbs with the city of Buenos Aires, a few meters from the climb by Almirante Brownalmost over the Nicolás Avellaneda bridge.
The two cars collided head-on in the center of the road, in a sector where traffic is on both sides. The noses of both vehicles were completely destroyed, with the engines retracted by the force of the impact.
One of the cars was more damaged than the other, but in both cases the magnitude of the crash was such that two of the occupants were trapped and were rescued by firefighters. “It is not understood what they wanted to do, one hand and the other. The truth is that they collided, they collided head-on.”a witness told the media.
The road conditions, wet from the rain, could have influenced the outcome, although the possibility of mechanical failure, poor maneuvering or distraction while driving is not ruled out.
Medical examinations, including blood tests, are expected to provide more information about the drivers’ condition at the time of the accident.
