‘Charmed’ fans are mourning the death of one of their most beloved stars. Shannen Doherty, the actress who brought Prue Halliwell to life, died this past Saturday at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer, according to the television and film website Variety.

“It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” said Leslie Sloane, the American actress’ representative, in a statement to People.

Shannen Doherty’s professional career in television fiction began in 1990. The actress was part of the cast of ‘Feeling of living’, legendary series broadcast by Telecinco in which he played during its first four seasons Brenda Walsh, a character who had a romantic relationship with Dylan (Luke Perry).

Years later, in ‘Beverly Hills, 90210: The Next Generation’, Doherty returned to the series spin-off which gave her one of her biggest television opportunities to once again play Brenda Walsh, now an acting teacher.

But, without a doubt, the other television role for which Shannen Doherty won the audience’s affection was that of Prue Halliwell in ‘Charmed’. The actress was on the show for the first three seasons of the Warner Bros. series, being part of the three best-known witch sisters on television alongside Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano.

Doherty’s departure from the series in 2001 after the death of her character was very controversial. In fact, recently, Alyssa Milano assured in the podcast ‘Let’s Be Clear’ that there were a significant rivalry between them after the series went from focusing on Prue to revolving around the three Halliwell sisters.

There was a lack of female support. “I’ve had the same publicist since who knows when, Leslie Sloane, and she could come on the podcast and say, ‘Shannen never cared about anyone else getting a cover. ’ It just wasn’t up to me,” Milanno said in this space.

These were not the only series that Shannen Doherty worked on in her long professional career in the world of television. ‘Little House on the Prairie’, ‘Magnum, P.I.’, ‘Beyond the Law’, ‘Our House’, ‘North Shore’ and ‘Riverdale’among others, are some of the fictions in which he was also a part.
