The Secretary of the Navy (Semar) denied the version published by local media in the state of Veracruz that the riot caused by an alleged violent robbery at the Gorbeña Perdomo family, has been taken to the facilities military in the Port of Veracruz.
Through an official letter to assert your right of replythe institution denied that there had been such assaultas well as any link to the discovery of stolen property at its facilities. According to the series of notes published on October 23, an armed group had broken into the residence of Fernando Gorbeña Peirothhusband of the businessman’s daughter Javier Perdomo and owner of San José de Abajo mill. The alleged attack would have occurred while Gorbeña was bathing, at which point the attackers took him out of the bathroom, tied him up, and forced him to hand over jewelry, money, and items of great value.

According to the released version, the family would have followed the route of the stolen suitcases, which were finally located in facilities of the Mexican Navy in it Port of Veracruz.

According to these versions, for fear of reprisals, the family decided not to file a formal complaint with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The Veracruz media publication included allegations about alleged links between naval elements and high profile crimes: “The Navy and part of its Staff of admirals have been accused of huachicoleros, there are fugitive sailors, others under investigation by the FGR, and some more who would have participated have been murdered,” (sic) reads in the note.
Furthermore, the institution was directly questioned: “What were the suitcases doing with the stolen items in their official facilities?” (sic), words that suggested a possible involvement of military personnel in the transfer or safekeeping of the stolen objects.
In response, the Social Communication Unit of the Mexican Navy issued a reply letter published on October 24, 2025. There, it clarifies that contact was established with a direct relative of the alleged victim, who flatly denied the facts:
“There was no assault on the Gorbeña Perdomo residence, nor on the aforementioned person (…). The aforementioned person is not in the city, nor has he been present recently; therefore, it is materially impossible that he was the victim of any criminal act such as the one described.”
Likewise, the contacted family member assured that the family does not have any type of location device. AirTag, while saying that they have not tracked suitcases or belongings to Navy facilities.
