While waiting for the definitive data, more than 25,500 members of the 87 thousand voters who were authorized to participate and deposited their Single Electronic Ballot among the 125 ballot boxes distributed in different spaces of the More Monumental Stadium. Almost three hours before the close of the elections scheduled for 8 p.m., the club’s previous historical record had already been surpassed.

In this way, this electoral event was the most attended in the club’s history, ahead of the 19,833 voters who participated in 2021the 18,872 of 2017the 18,372 of 2013the 14,243 of 2009 and the 12,198 of 1968.

Although on that occasion, the president kept 74% of the total votes of the day. Jorge Brito in 2021 added 14,020 votes in favor, achieving 70% of the total votes. The current ruling party began its cycle at the helm of the entity in 2013 with an electoral event that had the support of 10,248 members (55%).

“Congratulations to the newly elected president of the River Plate Atlético Club, Stefano Di Carlo, who becomes the president with the highest number of votes in history,” declared the president of the Electoral Commission Ignacio Villarroel.

It is one of the electoral events with the greatest participation in Argentine football, taking into account that Boca Juniors has the record in the country with 43,367 voters who participated in 2023 to consecrate Juan Román Riquelme as president. Previously, the Xeneize had signed other records with 38,363 (2019), 26,136 (2015) and 24,704 (2011) voters.

At a global level, the most important figure is under the orbit of Benfica, which just a few weeks ago had the presence of more than 86 thousand voters (also adding the white and null votes). According to the method of this club, on November 8 there will be a second round between Rui Costa, the current president, against João Noronha Lopes and the board has the challenge of convincing 100 thousand members to run in the elections to register in the statistics in the Guinness World Records. This mark surpassed the one that Barcelona had signed in 2021 and 2010 with the elections of Joan Laporta and Sandro Rosell, respectively, with the presence of more than 55 thousand voters.
