Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said the situation in the Kursk region was “Very difficult” after the Russian forces moved quickly in recent days to recover the land that kyiv’s army captured in the August incursion.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Zelenski said that the operation has achieved its objective by helping to stop Russian advances in other places, a sign that you could be ready to remove your troops from the area.
“Our men are absolutely heroic,” said the president in kyiv. “They faced this powerful attack.”
The complete expulsion of the Ukrainian forces would be a blow to kyiv, which hoped to use the Russian territory that captured in the first occupation of Russian lands by a foreign army since World War II as a possible currency in the peace conversations sought by US President Donald Trump.
