The American president, donald trumphas assured that it has up to a thousand projectiles ready to be loaded against Iran in case the authorities of the Islamic Republic comply with its warnings and threaten the president’s life, in a context of renewed tension in which Tehran has accused Washington of “violating” the preliminary agreement to end the conflict in the Middle East reached between both countries on June 17.
“One thousand missiles are ready and prepared to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran, and thousands more will be launched immediately if the Iranian Government carries out its threat, made in many corners of the world, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the current President of the United States of America, in this case, me!!,” the American president has stated in a publication shared on social networks.
In the same message, trump He has also stated that “the pertinent orders have already been given” for this to happen and has guaranteed that the US Army is not only ready to act, but is also “willing and capable (…) to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.”
This imperative, the tenant of the White House added, will be valid “for one year, with the possibility of extension.”
The warning of donald trump comes after Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchiattacked this Saturday against the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, Scott Bessentfor “violating” the US-Iranian memorandum of understanding of mid-June. A violation, he stressed, “follows other violations and errors by the United States.”
Specifically, Araqchi has alluded to the non-compliance with paragraph 9 of the aforementioned text, which states that, “pending a definitive agreement”, the United States and Iran are committed to “maintaining the status quo” of the Islamic Republic, for which the White House “will not impose new sanctions or deploy additional forces in the region.”
This criticism comes after the US Government has included Ali Ansari on its sanctions list, considering him a “key sponsor” of the new Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojataba Khamenei, despite the fact that Article 9 of the pre-agreement limits Washington’s ability to sanction Tehran.
On the other hand, official US sources have explained that another of the demands on Iran is a public commitment to guarantee safe free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz before this Saturday.
“The administration trump demands that Iran issue a public statement on Saturday recognizing the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and committing to cease attacks on merchant ships,” US officials told reporters at a press conference on Friday, as reported by Axios and the Wall Street Journal.
These demands, according to these sources, have been conveyed to the Iranian negotiators both directly and through the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.
