The leading company in the study of the social climate and projection of electoral scenarios CB Global Data published a new ranking of Latin American presidents corresponding to February 2026. The measurement included the participation of 22,487 people of legal age (between 2,004 and 2,630 citizens per country), who were surveyed between February 10 and 15, 2026.

The results of the measurements are not favorable for the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who was ranked 13th. from a list of 18 leaders from Latin America, which means that he is among the six presidents with the worst approval in the region.

Petro achieved a positive image of 38.3% and a negative image of 58.0%. He is followed by the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, with 36.8% approval and 59.8% disapproval; the head of State of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, who reached 34.9% favorability, compared to a 60.3% negative image; the president of Peru, José Jeri, with 32.8% approval and 58.3% disapproval.

Subsequently, the president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, is ranked with 31.6% support for his management, compared to 64.7% disapproval; and the interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, with a positive image of 23.7% and a negative image of 72.7%.

The sample in Colombia was 2,578 respondents. Of the totality, 17.2% consider that the image of President Gustavo Petro is very good; 21.1% believe it is good; 25.3% think it is bad; and 32.7% consider it to be very bad. 3.7% said they did not know or did not answer the question.

Contrary to the Colombian president, there are six who stand out for having high favorability:

  • President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, with a positive image of 72.6% and with a negative image of 24.8%.
  • President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, with a positive image of 68.5% and with a negative image of 29.9%.
  • President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, with a positive image of 62.1% and with a negative image of 35.1%.
  • President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, with a positive image of 24.8% and with a negative image of 41.1%.
  • President of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, with a positive image of 53.2% and with a negative image of 43.3%.
  • President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with a positive image of 49.2% and with a negative image of 47.5%.

In a previous measurement, corresponding to December 2025, the Colombian head of state also obtained an unfavorable result compared to other leaders. By then, Petro reached a positive image of 34.9%, showing that by February 2026 the percentage improved, and a negative image of 61.4%. He barely surpassed the dictator of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro, who obtained 24.3% approval, compared to 72.1% disapproval.

Maduro no longer appears in the presidential rankings because he was captured by United States authorities in January 2026, to respond to North American justice for crimes related to drug trafficking. He was replaced by Delcy Rodríguez, who in the February 2026 measurement also had the lowest result.

Now, in December 2025, 34.3% of those surveyed (1,193) stated that the image of the president of Colombia was very bad; 27.1% believed it was bad; 19.1% considered it to be good; and 15.8% stated that it was very good.
