Irun (Gipuzkoa), March 19 (EFE).- The Navarrese center back and international at the time with the Hispanics, Niko Mindegia, is the new reinforcement of Irudek Bidasoa-Irun, which has hired him for the next season.
The departure of Nacho Valles from Madrid has led to the arrival of the 37-year-old veteran centre-back, who comes from French handball, specifically from Fenix Toulousse Handball, where he has played the last two campaigns.
Bidasoa-Irun, in a statement released this Thursday, highlights the virtues of Niko Mindegia, who, according to him, will provide “talent, vision of the game and experience after a solid career in European football, such as Orlen Wisla Plock (Poland), Pick Szeged (Hungary)” or the French team itself, all of them top-line formations on the continental scene.
Mindegia, in his first statements after signing the agreement, has expressed his “satisfaction” for joining the Guipuzcoan project, has indicated that he is “physically well” and has said that he assumes the responsibility that comes with “arriving at a great club like Bidasoa.”
The center back was international on several occasions with the national team, with which he won the silver medal in the 2016 European Championship, in a team in which he coincided with the now Bidasoa sports director, Julen Aginagalde, and with Manolo Cadenas as coach. EFE
