Nexperia welcomes announcement of lifting of chip shipment blockade

Nexperia BV, the Dutch chipmaker, said on Sunday it welcomed recent statements from the US and Chinese governments removing barriers to the company’s shipment of chips, but declined to comment on statements by its Chinese subsidiary that it will accelerate steps to become independent.

Nexperia stated that it is now focused on ensuring stability of supply to its customers. The Dutch government has separately stated that it is continuing talks with the Chinese and other governments, as well as the industry, about a “constructive exit” for Nexperia.

The fight for control of Nexperia, which makes large volumes of basic chips used in automobiles, has caused shortages and alarmed automakers around the world.
