A new case of animal abuse has shocked the inhabitants of New Leon, state located north of Mexico, where a dog was rescued after suffering inhumane injuries.
The story of the dog, Greñas, a stray dog that was found in critical health conditions and with obvious signs of abuse, has awakened deep empathy in the community, mobilizing activists, animal protection organizations and citizens to pressure local authorities .
They demand not only that the guilty face legal consequences, but also that effective measures be implemented to prevent similar cases from happening again.
On October 28, a dog named “Greñas” was found in the municipality of Montemorelos with wounds that indicated it had been victim of sexual abuse.
The case reached Adogtame, a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of dogs in abusive situations, who quickly took him to a specialist to treat his wounds.
Unfortunately, the dog had wounds all over its body and was torn in the anal area. The vet cleaned the lesions and gave him strong pain medication.
The organization shared an update on Greñas’ health status on its networks. According to the report, those who know him describe him as a friendly and sociable animal, although, after the attack, he appears scared and shows obvious emotional damage.
The Nuevo León Environment Secretariat also intervened, sending personnel to the shelter to evaluate its condition, take photographs and begin the formal investigation of the case. The organization has published videos and photographs of the progress, showing moments such as his first walk since the attack and the caregivers’ efforts to stabilize him physically and emotionally.
“We were already able to bathe him and he went out for a second walk, suddenly he puts himself in one place, cries and no longer wants to move. It is a quite difficult process but we are moving forward,” the organization shares in a post on Instagram.
They also reported that the wounds on his leg are closing and that they are controlling a small infection. However, she is still afraid of men and reacts aggressively to them, although little by little she has begun to show confidence.
For now, There are no clues about those responsible. “We still have no suspects or culprits, but the complaints have been made, and we hope to have justice soon,” the publication concludes.
On October 27, a day before Greñas was found, a person contacted the Adogtame organization to report the case of a dog named Hairswith serious injuries and he was bleeding from his tail.
After sharing the case on social networks, his family was able to locate him; However, the injuries were too serious and he died shortly after. The veterinarian who attended the case commented that he believed he had been injured with some object.
Another case that shocked social networks was that of Luna, a dog that was found in the city of Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, inside a black bag with the snout closed with tape, wounds from burns, blows and signs of sexual abuse, however he died.
The organization called for a peaceful march and march on October 31 at 7:30 at night, where attendees were invited to bring their pets, as well as banners and white or light blue clothing to demand justice for the case of the three dogs.
