Disney+ announced the launch of ‘Messi and the Giants’ (‘Messi and the Giants’), an animated science fiction series inspired by the Argentine soccer player Lionel Messi, which does not yet have a release date.
The series, produced together with sonywill premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Latin Americaas announced by the company in a statement.
Each episode will last 22 minutes and will seek to transmit messages about personal growth to a children’s audience, not inspired by the career of the current Inter Miami soccer player but by fictional adventures.
The protagonist will be Leo, a 12 year old boy which is transported from Argentina to an alternative planet called Ikowhich he must save by facing giants.
“I always dreamed of participating in a project in which I shared the values of sport, those same values that were very important in my career, with the younger generations. Nothing is truly impossible with teamwork, perseverance, discipline and hard work.“said Messi in the launch announcement.
Furthermore, he added: “I’m looking forward to sharing this series with boys and girls around the world.and I hope to inspire and motivate you to achieve your own dreams. Since I was a child, I have always loved animated series, and I am looking forward to watching this series with my own children.”
For its part, Ayo Davispresident of Disney Branded Television, was proud to have worked with Messi in the production of the series and considered that “the themes that the series deals with, of family, friendship and teamwork, will resonate not only among football fans, but among all those who like to enjoy a great story”.
The animation is in charge of Atlantis Animationa company based in the Canary Islands, while the executive producer will be Guy Toubes and the director Dan Creteur.
