Javier Milei will have his first opening gesture today and will receive the governors to agree on reforms

The president Javier Milei This Thursday he will give a first sign of openness to dialogue on the part of his administration when he receives a large group of governors at the Casa Rosada to renew the link and begin to debate the reforms that he intends to discuss in Congress next year.

Starting at 5:00 p.m., the national leader will lead the meeting with the provincials in which, mainly, he will present the idea of try to reach agreements on the measures that will be promoted at the legislative level in the coming months.

Although one of the main topics that will be addressed will be Budget 2026which includes the discussion of the items that the central Executive Branch distributes among the districts, other initiatives that are in the pipeline will also be analyzed, such as the changes in labor and tax systemswhich are still being developed.

Leading this task is the Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, Federico Sturzeneggerwho Milei specifically asked to translate the points of the May Pact into bills.

However, those who will accompany the President at this Thursday’s meeting, in principle, will be the Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francosand the ministers of the Interior, Lisandro Catalánand Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputomembers of the federal board.

This working group was created after the defeat suffered by the ruling party in the Buenos Aires elections, with the aim of regaining contact with the provinces and strengthening the political muscle.

The authorities were analyzing the place where the meeting would be held, but the two alternatives they were evaluating were the Eva Perón Hall and the Scientists’ Hall, both located on the first floor of the Casa Rosada.

On the part of the governors, they were already confirmed Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Jorge Macri (Buenos Aires City), Maxmiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe), Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), Hebe Married (vice in Mendoza), Ignacio “Nacho” Torres (Chubut), Raul Jalil (Catamarca), Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), Hugo Passalacqua (Missions), Zulema Reina (vice in Neuquén) and Claudio Poggi (Saint Louis).

They will also participate Alberto Weretilneck (Black River), Gustavo Saenz (Jump), Marcelo Orrego (Saint John) and Leandro Zdero (Chaco), while Martin Llaryora (Córdoba) was invited, but had not responded.

Those who remained in doubt were also Gustavo Valdes (Currents), Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero) and Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz), who were in contact with Francos and Catalán, in charge of organizing the conclave.

On the contrary, the only ones who will surely not be in the game are the toughest opponents: Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Gildo Insfran (Formosa) Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja) and Gustavo Melella (Land of Fire).

The changes in the labor and tax regime are part of the 10 points that Milei established in the May Pact, which he signed with almost all the governors on July 9, 2024, in Tucumán.

This document is being worked on by the homonymous council, made up of Francos and Sturzenegger, by the Executive Branch, and by the governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejoby the provinces; the senator Carolina Losadaby the Upper House; the deputy, Cristian Ritondoby the Lower House; the general secretary of the UOCRA, Gerardo Martinezon behalf of the unions; and the president of the UIA, Martin Rappalliniby the business community.

According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the council plans to meet again at the end of November and then have a final meeting on December 15.

On that date, Sturzenegger will give the President a final report in which there will be a review of all the topics that were discussed during these months and then the bills will be finished writing.
