In Moscow, Ukraine fires Russian general who was in charge of nuclear technology

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on Tuesday killed Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov in a special operation in Moscow, an agency source told Reuters.

The source said kyiv considered Kirillov a war criminal and an “absolutely legitimate target”, accused of ordering the use of banned chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces. In the war, they said he was behind nuclear technology and chemical elements. “The liquidation of the head of the radiological and chemical protection forces of the Russian Federation is the work of the SBU,” the source said.
