Financial Daily – Santiago
In the context of the process of expiry of Enel’s concession and the ultimatum given by the Government for the company to reestablish the supply to all customers who are still without electricity, within a period of 72 hours, the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, clarified that the procedure will not stop, even if the objective is achieved.
“We will remain at this same stage, the first phase of the request,” the Secretary of State began by saying. “We have made two requirements that have been met so far, and this third one includes closing all the clients, or reaching these individual replacement agreements.”
However, Pardow was emphatic in pointing out that this does not mean that the possibility of further subsequent requirements is ruled out. or that, eventually, the expiration process may be moved forward to the second phase.
One-to-one attention
The reason, according to the head of the Energy portfolio, is the discontent of citizens not only with the replacement times, but also with “how Chilean families feel treated in our audit.”
Considering that 50% of customer calls to the company were not answered in a timely manner, the Government hopes that this damage can be repaired with personalized attention.“If the company is not able to comply within these 72 hours, we hope that Enel will find a subsequent solution, either an alternative through a generator or reaching a subsequent replacement agreement that will allow people to have some certainty in organizing their lives, but also to have human attention regarding the reality they are suffering,” he explained.
