“I have unblocked your account”: Iván Cepeda responded to Teleantioquia after controversy over blocking on X

Presidential candidate Iván Cepeda confirmed that he unblocked the official Teleantioquia account on the social network

As reported Week Magazinethe situation generated a debate about the relationship between public figures and the media in the middle of the final stretch of the presidential elections.

The controversy became public after Teleantioquia released an institutional statement in which it expressed its disagreement with the decision of the presidential candidate.

The channel maintained that the blockade affected the possibility of its journalists interacting directly with the content published by Cepeda, a figure of national interest in the midst of a dispute for the Presidency of the Republic, according to information published by Week Magazine.

The regional media argued that access to the candidates’ publications is essential to guarantee broad, plural and timely information coverage for citizens. For this reason, he publicly requested that the communication channel between both parties be reestablished, with the purpose of maintaining journalistic monitoring of the presidential campaign, in accordance with what was reported by Week Magazine.

In the statement released by the channel, the entity expressed that the measure represented an impact on the work of its information teams and recalled the importance of the media within democratic processes.

Teleantioquia indicated that the media fulfill an essential function by allowing citizens to have access to diverse and contrasted information about the candidates, their proposals and the decisions that can influence the political future of the country.

Likewise, the channel pointed out that any action that hinders access to information of public interest raises concern from the perspective of press freedom and the right of citizens to stay informed.

The entity also ratified its commitment to journalistic independence, informative pluralism and the opening of spaces for all political currents that participate in the national debate.

As the media explained, the purpose of the request was not to question personal decisions within digital platforms, but to guarantee adequate conditions for the development of journalistic work during one of the most important campaigns in recent years.

Hours after the publication of the statement, Iván Cepeda responded directly through his official account on the social network X.

The presidential candidate issued a brief and formal message in which he confirmed that he had removed the block imposed on Teleantioquia’s institutional account.

“Ladies and gentlemen Teleantioquia: respectfully, I inform you that I have unblocked your account. Kind regards,” wrote the presidential candidate.

With that message, the candidate closed the episode that had generated multiple reactions on social networks and in different sectors related to journalism and political communication.

The controversy occurred at a time of high political intensity, when the candidates who advanced to the presidential second round concentrate much of their activity on digital media and social networks.

Virtual platforms have become one of the main scenarios for the dissemination of proposals, debates and messages aimed at voters, which is why any restriction related to access to information usually generates public attention.

After unblocking, Teleantioquia journalists will once again be able to monitor the candidate’s publications, consult his statements and follow up on campaign activities disseminated through the platform.

The episode also reactivated the discussion about the relationship between political figures and the media in digital spaces, especially in electoral contexts where access to information acquires particular relevance for strengthening democratic debate.

With the decision announced by Cepeda, the interaction between the presidential candidate and the regional channel was reestablished, closing a controversy that for several hours put on the table issues related to freedom of the press, access to information and political communication during electoral times.
