Opposition leader María Carolina Machado informed the community, through her X account, that she is in a “safe place and with more determination than ever before to continue with you until the end!”
“My heart goes out to the Venezuelan who was shot when the repressive forces of the regime detained me. Thank you, thank you, to all the citizens who took to the streets to claim our victory on July 28 and collect it!” Machado stressed.
It should be noted thatthe opposition leader was arrested on Thursday during a demonstration in Caracas, within the framework of the protests against the Maduro government that are intensifying hours before his inauguration. According to the VPI news channel, The arrest was confirmed by Magalli Meda, one of Machado’s main collaborators, who warned about the events through social networks.
“Today, Bravo Pueblo demonstrated how to overcome fear! I have never felt so proud to be Venezuelan. Tomorrow I will tell you what happened today and what is coming.. Venezuela will be free! Glory to the brave people!” concluded the Venezuelan opposition leader.
The arrest of opposition leader María Corina Machado has unleashed a wave of reactions both inside and outside Venezuela, generating strong condemnation from political figures and international organizations. This event occurs at a time of maximum tension in the country, just when President Nicolás Maduro is preparing to assume a third consecutive term.
Initial information indicated that Machado had been “violently intercepted” by government agents, who even shot at the motorcyclists accompanying her. Shortly after her arrest, a video began to circulate in which Machado appeared assuring that she was fine and that she had been persecuted.
