During the president’s visit Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to Rich Pool, Veracruza woman affected by the recent floods starred in a tense moment when she complained directly to the governor Rocío Nahle García the lack of support after the natural disaster.
The affected person expressed that the president “He promised help and didn’t deliver.”pointing out that his situation has worsened because his son suffers from a chronic illness and his home was severely damaged.
Visibly upset, the woman addressed the president and Nahle, who were touring the affected area. “She said she would help me, she didn’t help me at all.”he exclaimed.
Faced with the claim, the governor responded seriously: “What will it be, what is it?”while Sheinbaum asked his team to write down the woman’s data to include her in federal support programs, assuring her that “I was not alone”.
Later, both leaders went to the civic plaza March 18where the delivery of support to victims would be carried out.
The public claim added to a wave of criticism that Rocío Nahle has faced in recent months, derived from the crisis caused by the floods of the 9 and October 10.
In municipalities like Rich Pool, Alamo-Temapache, Dogfish and Papantlahundreds of families were affected by the overflowing of the Cazones River, which left homes flooded, roads destroyed and services interrupted.
The state government’s response was questioned after videos circulated on social networks in which victims ironically showed the “supports” delivered by authorities, consisting of serums and electrolytes. These images sparked outrage and became a symbol of dissatisfaction with Nahle’s management.
To the problems of insecurity and the economic difficulties of the state, are added the accusations for his previous performance in the supervision of the refinery of Two Mouthsone of the emblematic projects of the federal government.
Social unrest has also revived the debate about the possible re-election of Rocío Nahle.
Although the Constitution of Veracruz contemplates that mechanism, the local congress has not issued the regulatory law to make it effective.
The issue has escalated to the national level. During her visit, President Sheinbaum was questioned about the legislative delay and the lack of concrete actions to guarantee the citizen’s right to decide on the continuity of their rulers.
