From rain to summer temperatures: what the weather will be like in AMBA this week

After a start to November marked by gray afternoons, scattered rain and lower than usual temperaturesthe weather in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area will be transformed significantly. Starting on Monday, the entry of warm air from the north will cause a sustained thermal rise, which will culminate on Saturday with the hottest day of the week.

During the first week of the month, the situation was atypical. The City accumulated five days of rainfall – although weak – and the cold environment predominated, which forced the use of shelter to be extended beyond what was expected for this time. However, the trend will change drastically. Already this weekend the thermal increase will begin to be felt and Monday will mark the beginning of a new stage.

According to him National Meteorological Service (SMN)this Monday will offer a stable day, with mostly clear skies, minimum temperatures close to 15 °C and maximum temperatures that will reach 27 °C. The winds will blow from the north and will maintain a warm atmosphere throughout the day, with no chance of precipitation.

But the most abrupt change will occur on Tuesday, when a cold front will advance from northern Patagonia towards the center of the country. Before its arrival, the heat will intensify: a hot day is expected, with maximum temperatures that could be around 27°C. Towards the afternoon and evening, they will begin to develop showers and isolated stormswhich could reach the AMBA with intense gusts and possible hail, according to the warnings issued by the SMN.

On Wednesday, after the passage of the frontal system, the weather will stabilize. A cool morning is expected, with minimums of 14 °C, and a pleasant afternoon, with clear skies and maximum temperatures around 26°C. The wind will change direction, blowing from the south and bringing drier and more stable air.

Starting Thursday, a new thermal escalation will begin. With the return of the north wind and mostly clear skies, temperatures will rise again: that day, they are anticipated minimums of 15 °C and maximums of 26 °Cwhile on Friday the values could rise to 29°Cwith stable weather conditions throughout the region.

In line with forecasts, the hottest day will be Saturday. Meteorological projections indicate that it will be the hottest day of the week in the AMBA, with minimum temperatures close to 19 °C and maximum temperatures of 30 °C or more. In sectors of the center and north of the country, temperatures could even exceed 33 °C. Although the sky will be partly cloudy, no rain is expected that day.

The phenomenon is part of a typical November dynamic: after days of instability and passages of cold air, the northern circulation is strengthened, which favors thermal rise. In this context, coastal breezes could dampen the heat in coastal areas, but they will not modify the general trend.

In parallel, the SMN maintains in force a yellow alert for storms for part of the west and center of the country, in provinces such as Mendoza, Neuquén, Río Negro and The Pampa. These unstable conditions will move eastwards on Tuesday, also affecting Buenos Aires occasionally.

By tomorrow, the storm front will extend towards the northeast and will also affect the provinces of San Luis, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos and the province of Buenos Aires.

The contrast between the beginning of the month and the days to come will be evident. From unexpected cold to stifling heat in less than a week, the AMBA will go from one of the coldest weeks of the season to one of the warmest, with values that will approach those of summer. Meteorological organizations recommend staying informed, especially given the possibility of intense storms during Tuesday.
