Franco Colapinto surpassed his Alpine teammates in practice and closed a positive first day at the Mexican Formula 1 GP

The first day of activity in the Mexican Grand Prix had to Charles Leclerc (1:18.380) as the fastest with his Ferrari in FP1 already Max Verstappen (1:17.392) with the fastest record of FP2.

The first training was very particular since there were nine rookies replacing the starting drivers to comply with the regulations imposed by the FIA. In this context, the Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad was the big surprise of the day: it achieved a record of 1:18,997placed sixth and was the only rookie to surpass his teammate on the track (Yuki Tsunoda turned less than a tenth slower).

In Alpine, Franco Colapinto had its fastest turn in 1:19,331 during the first training session, which allowed him to place 9th and be 0.531 faster than Paul Aronthe rookie who occupied the seat by Pierre Gasly. The Argentine marked his best lap in 1:18,721 in FP2, which left him 18th but also allowed him to have a time 0.437 better than that of Gasly.

This Saturday, from 2:30 p.m. in Argentina, the third practice. Then, starting at 6:00 p.m., the classification which will organize the starting grid for Sunday’s 71-lap race (it will start at 5 p.m.).
