France continues to strongly oppose the free trade agreement planned between the European Union and the Mercosur bloc of South American countries.The French trade minister said Wednesday, adding that Paris believes a better deal is possible.
Speaking in the Senate, Trade Minister Sophie Primas said France’s concerns regarding the dealThey were mainly related to climate policy and also to Paris’ desire to protect local farmers.
“We need each of you (…) to convince our European parliamentary colleagues, to convince environmental associations, that convinces our farmers in all countries that another agreement is possible,” Primas said.
