The World Surf League (WSL) has revealed the invitations for the Fiji Pro Crownthe ninth event of the Championship Tour (CT) 2024, sponsored by Bonsoy. Among the selected ones, the farewell of the legendary Kelly Slater stands out, who at 52 years old will compete for the last time, alongside promising talents Erin Brooks and Sierra Kerr, aged 16 and 17 respectively.

Erin Brooksoriginally from Canada, and Sierra Kerrfrom Australia, have earned a spot in this prestigious tournament, which will take place on the waves of Cloudbreak from August 20 to 29, 2024. This event is crucial as it will determine the Final 5, both in the men’s and women’s categories, who will compete in the Lexus WSL Finals for the 2024 world championship.

Brooks, at the moment leader in the 2024 Challenger Series standings, Brooks has put in an exceptional performance, moving ever closer to securing a full-time spot at the elite level. After weeks of training in Fiji and outstanding performances on the waves of Indonesia, Brooks comes to Cloudbreak hoping to surprise the competitors looking for a spot in the WSL Final 5.

For its part, Sierra Kerr, 2024 WSL Junior World Champion, She has impressed with her barrelling ability in Indonesia and Tahiti. The 17-year-old has proven herself a left-hand barrel specialist and arrives in Fiji as the reigning WSL Junior World Champion, ready to continue her impressive run in professional surfing.

Kelly Slater, 11 times world champion, Slater has accepted a wildcard to compete in Fiji, a place where he has claimed four Championship Tour victories (2005, 2008, 2011 and 2012). Slater, known for his memorable performances at Cloudbreak, will be looking to make a triumphant farewell at one of his favourite venues.

He Second men’s wildcard will be awarded to the winner of the local trials in Fiji, which will take place on the best day of waves between July 1 and 31. This event promises to be a high-level spectacle, with the mix of experience and youth in the fight for glory in one of the most iconic stages of world surfing.
