Quito, June 9 (EFE).- The Ecuadorian Police reported this Tuesday the arrest of Pedro P., an Ecuadorian citizen who was deported from the United States and who was wanted by his country’s justice system for the crime of organizing or financing the production and trafficking of drugs.
According to the police force, the capture was possible thanks to international police cooperation and an Interpol red notice issued against the arrested person.
The investigations determined that Pedro P. allegedly coordinated from land the logistical supply for vessels linked to an international criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, although no further details were given.
According to the Police, the case is related to the interception in 2020 of a semi-submersible by the United States Coast Guard about 1,800 nautical miles (3,333 kilometers) from the South American coast.
During that operation, approximately 2,400 kilograms of drugs were seized. EFE
