The Superior Court of Antioquia sentenced Santiago Uribe Vélez, brother of former President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, to 28 years and 4 months in prison for aggravated homicide, formation of paramilitary groups, conspiracy to commit a crime and accumulation of crimes against humanity.

Claudia López, former mayor of Bogotá and presidential candidate, assured that “justice takes a while but it comes.”

The former senator and former director of the Department of Social Prosperity (DPS), Gustavo Bolívar, described the second instance sentence as fair.

The presidential candidate of the Democratic Center, Miguel Uribe Londoño, assured that the brother of the former president “is another victim” of justice.
“Santiago Uribe Vélez is another victim of the persecution that a sector of justice, in alliance with political groups, has unleashed against the Uribe Vélez family“, indicated Miguel Uribe Londoño.

The senator and presidential candidate of the Democratic Center Paola Holguín assured that Santiago Uribe “is a good man.”
