President Donald Trump said the US army had carried out Air attacks against alleged terrorists in Somalia.
Trump did not appoint the members of the Islamic State terrorist group they said were killednot even the death toll.
“This morning I ordered precision military air attacks against the main planning planner of ISIS attacks and other terrorists that he recruited and directed in Somalia,” Trump said In a publication on social networks. “Those murderers, whom we find hidden in caves, threatened the United States and our allies.”
Trump said the attacks “killed many terrorists, without damaging civilians”but did not provide details, except to say that the US army had been tracking a person who called “this ISIS attack planner” for years.
The White House National Security Council refused to identify the objective.
The United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, said the action, in the Golis mountains, west of the country, “Det even more Isis to plan and carry out terrorist attacks that threaten US citizens, our innocent civil members”.
In 2022, then President Joe Biden authorized the shipment of less than 500 soldiers to Somalia in a “persistent” way to reactivate an anti -terrorist mission that ended during Trump’s first mandate. At that time, the United States carried out an air attack against Al Shabab terrorists, linked to Al Qaeda, which attacked the forces of the Somali national army, in which 27 people died.
