The Major Division of Colombian Professional Football (Dimayor) announced on April 1 the rescheduling of six matches corresponding to dates 16, 17 and 18 of the BetPlay I-2026 League, due to deficiencies in the lighting of the General Santander stadiums in Cúcuta and Armando Maestre Pavajeau stadiums in Valledupar.
The latest statement from Dimayor stated that “the lack of adequate lighting in the affected stadiums responds to the failure to comply with the commitments made by clubs and municipal administrations, who had to resolve these problems before April.” As a consequence, the entity had to modify the previously established schedules and dates to ensure the correct development of the competition.

Among the teams involved in this rescheduling are Atlético Nacional, América de Cali and Millonarios FC, all of them decisive in the fight for qualification for the playoffs. In addition, the measure also impacts Independiente Medellín, Junior FC, Deportivo Pereira, Alianza Valledupar, Fortaleza CEIF and Cúcuta Deportivo.
The Dimayor decision implies changes such as the transfer of the match between Cúcuta Deportivo and América de Cali to Sunday, April 5 at 4:00 pm at the General Santander stadium. For date 17, the confrontation between Alianza Valledupar and Independiente Medellín will be played on Sunday, April 19 at 4:10 pm at the Armando Maestre Pavajeau, while the expected duel between América de Cali and Millonarios FC will be played the same day at 8:30 pm at the Pascual Guerrero in Cali.
On date 18, the match between Cúcuta Deportivo and Junior FC was set for Friday, April 24 at 4:00 pm, again at General Santander. On Saturday, April 25 at 4:00 pm, Deportivo Pereira will host Atlético Nacional at the Santiago de las Atalayas stadium, and in the last round of that Saturday, Independiente Medellín will face Fortaleza at 8:30 pm, in a scenario yet to be defined due to the holding of another event.
With this rescheduling, Dimayor seeks to “avoid major inconveniences in the development of the matches,” although the situation highlights the recurring infrastructure problems in Colombian football.as the organization itself recognized in its official statement. The governing entity reiterated the call to clubs and local authorities to “commit to the improvement of sporting venues and guarantee the continuity of the championship in optimal conditions.”
