Juan, known for being the most recent eliminated from the program 21st Century Challengedue to a serious injury to his hand, became a trend after his outstanding participation. The former contestant told the entertainment program that His alcohol addiction intensified due to the large number of personal problems he had.especially after the death of his grandfather, an event that marked him deeply, taking into account his closeness to his loved one.

According to his story, at the time of his relative’s departure, he lived in Barranquilla, maintained a distant relationship with his father and faced financial difficulties. His mother had asked him to visit his grandfather, who was suffering from cancer and was in critical condition, but he did not make it in time to say goodbye.

“When I was halfway there, my sister wrote to me around 2:00 am or 3:00 am that my grandfather had passed away. That was a very hard blow for me because Because I was in disorder and drinking and thinking about parties, suddenly, about stripping, about women, I couldn’t say goodbye to him.“, Juan confessed with regret during the interview with The Network.

This episode, as he explained, was decisive in his process of self-criticism and recognition of the damage caused by his behavior, so he began to be aware that he had to change the course of his life. “I failed him because he was disorderly,” he acknowledged when referring to his relationship with his grandfather.

It is worth mentioning that the impact of alcohol was not limited to the family environment, since Juan admitted that his two most stable romantic relationships ended due to his consumptionalthough he pointed out that he has never resorted to drugs.

Currently, Juan claims to be more aware of the mistakes made and strives to maintain a life away from excesses. His testimony joins that of other personalities who have decided to make visible the consequences of alcohol abuse, with the intention of raise awareness about the risks associated with this addiction.

It is worth mentioning that Juan’s elimination occurred in episode 80 of the program, motivated by a medical recommendation after aggravating a finger injury suffered during a test in the White Box, it was just the beginning of a stage of introspection.
