It’s been years since the start of the television season has been as heated as the current one. Who is to blame? Pablo Motos and, above all, the landing of David Broncano on TVE. Since the news of the signing of the presenter of ‘The resistance’ on the public channel, the expectation among the public was maximum: would it maintain the same mischievous humor that in Movistar Plus+? Would your formula work in a public television and in the strip ofPrime time accessWould you dare to do your thing? Questions about sex and moneyBut first of all, could you dethrone ‘El hormiguero’until now undisputed king in the audiencesLast year, for example, Trancas and Barrancas They wiped out Jorge Javier and his ‘Chinese Tales’ in less than a month.

The first week of battle between ‘The revolt’ and ‘The anthill’ has left a very even duel, which has ended in a draw: two wins for eachIn fact, both have ended Thursday with their highest figures of the week: 3,107,000 viewers and a 23.3% audience share for Motos (its best figure since June 2023) and 2,601,000 and 19.2% for Broncano.

Motorcycles gain on the weekly average

Making the weekly average Of both programs from Monday to Thursday, the balance tips in favor of ‘El hormiguero’: 2,583,000 fans and a 20.5% share on average compared to 2,355,000 and 18.4% for ‘La revuelta’. But Broncano has come to show that he is coming ready to give war and Motos has felt their support up close (which is why there have been days when he has even dispensed with advertising).

According to data from Barlovento Comunicación, based on figures from Kantar, in the average time slot when both programmes coincide, ‘El hormiguero’ wins with 19.6% of the audience share, compared to the 18.8% share that ‘La revuelta’ averages. By targets, the Motos show leads among women, children, 65-74 years old, over 75 years old, Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha, the Canary Islands, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Murcia and Castilla y León.

‘La revuelta’, on the other hand, is the leader among men, 13-64 years old, Catalonia, the Basque Country, Madrid, the Valencian Community, Asturias, Navarre and the commercial target.

The importance of guests

Motos has had these days powerful guestswhile Broncano has played with the surprise card, not revealing the interview of the day until its protagonist has appeared on the set.

Monday: ‘El Hormiguero’ invited Victoria Federica. ‘La Revuelta’ invited the blind surfer Aitor Francesena.

Tuesday: ‘El Hormiguero’ invited the actor Javier Camara‘La Revuelta’ invited the actress Najwa Nimri.

Wednesday: ‘El Hormiguero’ invited Malú, Luis Fonsi, Antonio Orozco and Pablo Lopez (‘The Voice’ coaches). ‘La Revuelta’ invited Juan Jose Millas and Juan Luis Arsuaga.

Surpassing expectations

Broncano has already managed to exceed expectations with his Hearings on Monday, September 9: 2,152,000 viewers and a 17.1% audience share, making it the second most-watched programme of the day, behind only ‘El hormiguero’ (2,893,000 and 23%).

He big ‘overtake’ It arrived on Tuesday, climbing to first place in the rankings (2,127,000 and 17.4%) and repeating on Wednesday (2,548,000 and 19.9%), where it got the golden minute (2.8 million) beating ‘El hormiguero’ by 3.7 points in strict coincidence. This Thursday, however, it was defeated by its rival (2,601,000 and 19.2%).

Motorcycles, for their part, have gone from a Monday leader with the visit of Victoria Federica on Tuesday as the second choice (2,103,000 and 17.5%), a position it repeated on Wednesday (2,257,000 and 18.2%). On Thursday it was once again crowned leader with its best data of the week (3,107,000 and 23.3%).

Young people and ‘The Revolt’

It should be noted that Broncano’s great debut on La 1 de TVE does not mean that ‘El hormiguero’ has lost audiences. In fact, it has had the best week in its history. For example, comparing the data for this week (2,583,000 and 20.5%) with the previous week (2,274,500 and 20.5%).

The reason? The reason is not so much that ‘La revuelta’ has stolen fans from its rivals (although its duel with Motos has already claimed its first victim: ‘Babylon Show’) but because has managed to capture a (mainly young) audience which previously dispensed with linear television.

This is according to the consultancy Dos30′, which indicates that television consumption among young people in the ‘access prime time’ slot has grown by 13.9% compared to 2023. According to figures from Barlovento Comunicación, it has increased by 12.0% compared to the previous week. This increase is close to 40.0% in viewers aged 13 to 44.

So the war between Broncano and Motos is causing television to win in the end.
