Journalist Alejandro Villegas denounced in his X account that the security guards at the Transmilenio stations in Bogotá do not fulfill their function adequately.
According to the report, they allowed people to enter without paying a ticket and homeless people, even though their job is to prevent it.
In addition, he pointed out that a woman asked for help due to harassment from a companion at the 39th Street station and the guards did not intervene. The user questioned what the role of these employees really is in the facilities of the mass transportation system.
Faced with this complaint, the capital councilor of the Democratic Center, Daniel Briceño, took the opportunity to question the investment in security that Transmilenio makes in security, since, according to what was written by the public servant on this social network, despite the money used in this topic, users have the same complaint regarding the security guards.

“Señor@s @TransMilenio, could you tell me what the function of the guards in stations is? They don’t take out clothes, they don’t stop street people and a few minutes ago at the 39th Street station a woman asked for help due to harassment from a companion and they did nothing. @secredistmujer”Villegas denounced through his X account.
Councilor Daniel Briceño responded to the user’s complaint about the alleged ineffectiveness of the guards at the Transmilenio stations by revealing that, in 2024 alone, the entity spent $88,247,346,710 on private surveillance services for portals, stations and infrastructure. However, despite this million-dollar investment, user complaints persist, pointing out that security guards do not provide the necessary assistance when they face problems or risk situations within the system.
“Transmilenio has spent around $88,247,346,710 in 2024 alone on private surveillance services for portals, stations and infrastructure and the complaints of users are almost always the same, the guards do not help users when they have problems”commented the councilor of the Democratic Center through his X account.
On the other hand, in addition to the councilor, Transmilenio itself responded to the journalist through its official X account, who said that they repudiate acts of violence against women and that precisely to address this type of situation they work to raise awareness among their staff. .
“Good morning, Alejandro. From TransMilenio we repudiate any act of violence against women in their diversities. To this end, we continually work to raise awareness among all personnel in order to respond to these events.”they responded.
Transmilenio also thanked the user for their report and solidarity, ensuring that the necessary corrective measures will be taken once the facts are determined. They indicated that they are verifying the cases, since the identification and addressing of gender-based violence and sexual harassment is carried out in parallel from camera monitoring and alerts from the territorial team.
They explained that this reaction may take a few minutes, while the police and the psychosocial team are alerted to react. In addition, they invited the user to, if they witness something, go to the actors on the road, managers, hosts, red vest personnel, security guards and police to activate the reaction.
