The Chilean government announced on Friday that it will move forward with a process of expiry of the local unit’s electricity supply concessionof the Italian company Enel after failures to restore service.

The process began after prolonged service outages following a storm with strong winds that affected the central part of the country at the beginning of the month.

The Superintendent of Electricity and Fuels, Marta Cabeza, He explained to reporters that an analysis of the company’s performance will be carried out, which serves 33 municipalities in the capital region, which will also include Enel’s allegations.

He added that the report could take between six and 18 months.

Enel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
