Chancellor Murillo insists that Colombia has been a “defender of free elections”

Luis Gilberto Murillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, commented on the situation in Venezuela within the framework of the first forum ‘Connections that Transform 2024’led by Senator Sonia Bernal.

During his speech, Murillo He referred to the political situation in Venezuela and reaffirmed the Government’s position in this situation.

In this regard, the chancellor expressed that Colombia has maintained its position of defending electoral freedoms in the neighboring country but highlighted the importance of respect for the opposition.

“The presidential elections were not free because the Government harassed the opposition. President Petro has always spoken of guarantees for the electoral process, t“both for participants close to the government and for members of the opposition,” said the chancellor.

Murillo also confirmed the formation of the G4 (Colombia, Chile, Brazil and Mexico) to discuss global policy issues.
