Central Bank of Uruguay says that inflation expectations will improve in June

The Central Bank of Uruguay, BCU, published in the last hours the results of a new inflation survey and economic expectations.

The analysts and institutions that responded in June to that consultation project that inflation in 12 months to December would be 5%, and on the 24 -month horizon of 5.2%, according to the median responses.

This marked a new improvement of expectations for both horizons compared to last month, from 5.4% and 5.5% respectively.

Currently two of the three expectations measures considered by the BCU – financial analysts and markets – are located within the tolerance range of between 3% and 6% for the 24 months horizon, but still distant from the goal of 4.5%. Meanwhile, businessmen are still above (6.5%).

The directory of the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU), resolved at the end of May maintain the interest rate by 9.25%. This after the rise of 25 basic points registered in April when monetary policy re -entered the contractive phase.
