The Mexican cement company Cemex announced on Monday its participation in a US$865 million project for the construction of a bridge in Floridasoutheastern United States, which sIt is expected to be open in 2025 and will be essential for preventive evacuations when there are hurricanesaccording to the company.

Cemex reported that so far it has provided some 108,000 cubic meters of concrete and almost 104,000 tons of aggregates to the project.that will include a bike and pedestrian path, express lanes and space for future light rail.

“Cemex joins the construction of Tampa’s largest transportation project”the company said in a statement.

The bridge will span nearly three miles over former Tampa Bay and improve connectivity between Tampa and the St. Petersburg area.providing “a crucial lifeline for residents during emergencies”according to the cement company.
