The Electric Transportation Services (STE) of the Mexico City announced that the Light Rail will modify its operation; In addition to the Tasqueña terminal —which is currently not providing service—, other stations will close because they will undergo remodeling.
The government of Mexico City informed the citizens that the Light Rail stations will be remodeledthis with the aim of increasing passenger capacity on the waiting platforms. Through an official statement they explained how these works will be carried out and the dates of the closures.
Clara Brugada, head of government of CDMX, began a series of works to improve mobility to the south of the capital, this with the aim of providing infrastructure for the visitors who will be there on the occasion of the 2026 World Cup. The Light Rail is one of the transportation that will be remodeled.
According to the capital authorities, the CDMX Light Train will close some of its stations from Monday October 20these adjustments in its operation will be staggered, that is, it will not be by sections but by stops that make up the route.

“As part of the work to increase the capacity and number of trips on the Light Rail, the structural adjustments to the roofs will begin in six stations starting on Monday, October 20, 2025 and concluding on Thursday, October 2, 2026,” the statement reads.
According to what the capital authorities explained, they will carry out pavement demolition work and debris removal, so that later the assembly and casting of footings, slabs and columns for the assembly of a new roof will begin.
This expansion responds to the need to adapt the train infrastructure for the new expanded units that will carry more passengers. Users will have to adjust their trips, as the RTP auxiliary service will only operate The Towers to the CETRAM Tasqueña for the works being carried out at the Light Rail terminal.
