Capachos chooses Granada for his return to the scene

The Congress Palace of Grenade will be transformed on January 20 into a great casino in pre-revolutionary Cuba thanks to my good loveThe nnew musical show that the group Capachos It premiered last April based on its third album, which contains thirteen songs by well-known authors such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Gloria Estefan, Ismael Serrano, Ana Belén, Joaquín Sabina or El Kanka.

With script of the Montillana writer Ana Requena and under the stage direction of Juan Carlos Villanuevathe group that emerged in 2010 has had the extensive experience and know-how of Tenerife engineer Carlos Mas, producer of Los Sabandeños for almost three decades and ultimately responsible for the sound offered by such renowned Canarian groups as Los Gofiones or La Trova.

“On this occasion we have taken a step further, since the entire choir is part of the story, trying to make music and theater truly one, having more to do with a musical theater than with a typical concert,” he explained. the actor and director from Córdoba Juan Carlos Villanueva.

Graduated in Dramatic Art from the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Córdoba, Villanueva has worked in series such as The Plague, Plaza Alta, Arrayán, Los Serrano, The one that is coming, Tell me how it happened, Down there or, more recently, The invisible girl.

The story of my good love This time it is told by all the members of Capachos – actors, musicians and choir – what, in Villanueva’s opinion, “it entails additional difficulties when working with people who are not stage professionals and who have to perform music at the same time”.

“With this show, Capachos intends to go up a notch, both for the interpretation of the songs that make up the album and for the theatrical representation that surrounds the story,” stressed, for his part, the mayor of Montilla and member of the group, Rafael Llamas. , who praised the format of the new project because “it allows us to unite, even more so, if possible, music and words”.

The Capachos group emerged in Montilla in 2010 under the musical direction of José María Luque. In 2011 he presented his first album, titled The traveler, with which they took their music to numerous theaters in Andalusia. It was in 2014 when the group presented its second show, Gira el Mundo, a composition that combines theater and music with more than thirty musicians on stage and which has toured much of Spain.

“After almost nine years since the presentation of our last show, we have managed to reach this premiere after having gone through many vicissitudes, such as the coronavirus pandemic, which forced us to paralyze our activity for a few months,” acknowledged the president of Capachos, José Antonio Alcaide, during the presentation of the show.

Thus, my good love will stage thirteen songs in Granada in which plectrum instruments such as bandurrias and lutes are combined with other types of instruments such as violin, saxophone, flute, percussion, bass and piano. “To all this we must add an extraordinary choir made up of first, second, baritones and bass tenors,” stressed its musical director, José María Luque.

“We wanted to make music that was a little more daring, by more current authors, with the idea of bringing Capachos closer to a younger audience,” acknowledged the musical director of the group, who did not hide the “pride” that working with Carlos has represented for Capachos. Mas, one of the most respected music producers in the Canary Islands.
