It is important to mention that this traffic restriction does not apply on weekends, nor on holidays established by law or when exceptionally established by the competent authority.
Several vehicles may not be affected by the vehicle restriction program, according to the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali.
These are hybrid and electric cars, cargo cars with a capacity greater than or equal to five tons, official cars, motorcycles and those whose owners pay the congestion or pollution fee.
In order for the car with these conditions to be exempt from the Pico y Placa, an application must be submitted to the Mobility Secretariat of the Special District of Santiago de Cali, complying with the established requirements or procedures.
Motorists who violate the Pico y Placa program will be subject to a financial penalty.
The current fine, according to the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali, is 560,000 pesos.
